Waterdown Music Academy Policies

Tuition

• Tuition is prepaid monthly, billed to your credit card on the first of each month. Holidays and academy closures are automatically built-in to your billing.
• Tuition is billed at $136/month (based on our current rate of $34/lesson).
  For Monday lessons, tuition is lowered to $124/month due to the number of statutory holidays throughout the year.
• Tuition cannot be refunded or used as credit towards future private lessons in the event that you miss a lesson (see “Attendance, Cancellations & Makeups” below).
• A one-time registration fee of $25 per student applies. If you’re enroling more than one student from the same household at the same time, the fee applies only to the first child!

Attendance, Cancelations & Makeup Lessons

• In the event that you miss a lesson, up to four free makeup lessons per year can be scheduled subject to our availability. Please note that 24 hours’ notice of a cancelation is required to be eligible for a makeup lesson.
• We take our students’ health seriously! On the rare occasion that your teacher isn’t feeling well, they may elect to teach from home via Zoom or have a guest instructor take their place at the academy for the day.

What To Do If You Are Sick

Not feeling well enough to come into the academy, but don’t want to miss your lesson? Join us for a virtual lesson on Zoom! Just let us know in advance that you’d like to switch to a virtual lesson for the day and you can connect with your teacher at the usual time. Weeks of Operation

Waterdown Music Academy is open year-round, with a few closures throughout the year. For a list of upcoming closures and academy events take a look at our calendar.

Care of Students

• Waterdown Music Academy is not responsible for providing care for students either before or after lessons. Students are welcome to wait in the lobby for a reasonable period but please note that we cannot guarantee supervision by staff.
• Parents, legal guardians of minors and students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained at Waterdown Music Academy resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted before, during, or after lesson time.

Withdrawing From Lessons

To discontinue lessons charges to your account, fill out a withdrawal form before the 15th of your last month For example, if you want to stop lessons at the end of April you must let us know by April 15th – otherwise, your final payment will be processed on May 1st and the final lesson will be at the end of May.

Snow Days/Inclement Weather

If the academy needs to close due to weather, you will be informed by email in advance of your lesson. If this happens, all lessons will be moved to Zoom for the day – you can always find info on how to connect with your teacher via Zoom at https://www.waterdownmusicacademy.ca/online-lesson-setup/

Note that we operate independently of local school boards when it comes to decisions regarding weather – we may stay open even if public schools are closed (and vice-versa). Please keep an eye on your inbox for updates regarding weather-related closures (or simply give us a call at 905-690-8010 for an update).

Photo & Recording Waiver

One of our most popular events is our annual Picture Day. A photographer will visit the academy and students will have the chance to be photographed with their instruments (and it’s completely free!). We may also record/photograph student performances, portions of lessons and feature students in our newsletter and on our social media accounts. By enrolling with Waterdown Music Academy, you consent to any such photography/videography and for you or your child’s image to be used as aforementioned. If you would like to withdraw consent, please inform us in writing at info@waterdownmusicacademy.ca.
